Catholic Voices offers training to Catholics in everyday walks of life who are happy to explain and present the Church’s teaching and positions — and to commentate on difficult or controversial topics — in clear, human language.
Catholic Voices is a team of “ordinary” Catholics which was created to be available to producers before and during the UK papal visit and who continue to be available for TV and radio studios to comment on topics in the news.
They do not speak officially on behalf of the Church, but have the bishops' blessing. They can be relied on to express authoritatively the Church's positions in ways that are succint, compelling and reasonable.
Last year, in preparation for the papal visit, they met regularly for briefings, and trainings from experts in how to carry off an effective short interview on radio and TV. Those trainings and briefings continue.
Although most of the Catholic Voices team are in and around London, we are training more and more people outside London to be available to local studios.
