By Fionn Shiner

BISHOP Robert Barron, a bestselling author with over three million followers on Facebook, is visiting London this February, speaking at an event in Parliament, celebrating Mass at Westminster Cathedral, and giving a talk to a gathering of over 1,300 Catholic leaders.

The visit, taking place between 6th-12th February 2023, is being organised by Catholic Voices in collaboration with The Word on Fire Institute. Bishop Barron of Winona-Rochester said of the upcoming tour:

“I am delighted to be coming to the UK this February. My purpose, as always, will be to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus. Secularism is on the rise in the West, and its influence is strongly felt in Great Britain. But yours is a land of faith, marked by the witness of many great saints and martyrs. I so look forward to meeting you, to hearing what is on your minds and hearts, and to encourage you in your relationship with the Lord."

On 6h February, Bishop Barron will be speaking to MPs, Peers, and religious and civic leaders, in the Houses of Parliament on ‘What Christianity brings to the public conversation’

The bishop will take part in a number of other events, before finishing his visit with a keynote address on 11th February at a National Evangelisation Conference at the QEII Centre, London for 1,300 Catholics called Sharing the Church’s Story’ starting at 10am.

Brenden Thompson, CEO of Catholic Voices, said that Bishop Barron’s example and ministry encapsulates the reason Catholic Voices began, to equip Catholics to use the media more effectively. He said:

“Bishop Barron is an incredibly effective communicator, who has been a trailblazer in terms of using new media as a means to evangelise. His YouTube videos have received over 50 million views showing how receptive people are to his message. We hope that Bishop Barron’s visit can teach us how to reach people who are searching for answers. We hope that his example can show us that the media is not something for Catholics to fear, but rather use as an opportunity to share the Church’s story.”
